Living Your Best life Every day

Published Jan. 23, 2023

The topic grabbed me this morning while I jog. I thought wow! Congrats to you for doing things that are uncomfortable to you each day. (You’ve got to be your own BFF. Do things to yourself that you would do to a friend).

Why? I don’t like to work out that much but I do it every day because I’m invested in long-term health and wellness, and because I believe that good health is the foundation of everything - happiness, creativity, productivity and so on.

As I jogged, I asked myself, what does an awesome day look like for you?

Well, I envision it as experiencing what it is to be fully alive.

What would that look like today every day?

At the end of the day, I would like to be grateful that -

I meditated on the greatness of God, who is more than excited to recognise my humanity and pour his grace into my limitations.

I invested in health and connected with family and friends.

I’ve taken the next micro step to achieve my career or business goals and I’m faithful in meeting the schedules and timelines of activities and projects.

I’ve learned something and shared it with others, and helped others.

I asked for feedback on the mistakes I made and learn from them.

And most of all, I'm excited to begin again!

When I was reviewing, why did these things matter? I realised happiness is living your values and beliefs and expressed in a tangible way.

Imagine, if life just happens to you because, maybe unconsciously, things have become automatic. You go to work without thinking so hard about how to get there. You wake up, switch on your mobile, browse, or swipe. Now, you landed on your desk. Social media has become the default navigator or influencer in your life. If this happens, snap out of it. It’s a tragic waste of life force.

If you care about happiness and fulfilling your life mission, make each day meaningful and significant. Be intentional about designing it. We’ve got to prioritise our values each day. If we do, we seal it from any trivial distractions. We set our days, and our lives apart.  Don’t get me wrong. Flexibility and openness of the mind are important in cultivating creativity.

What I meant, you are appointing yourself as the major influencer of your day, your life.

You’ve got the power to make choices and decisions.

Three things that you can do:

1) Know your values.

2) Create an everyday programme that reflects these values and a strategy for how to achieve them.

3) Practise it.
